Ahhh, prom season is in swing! If you're out and about on almost any Friday or Saturday evenings in May you'll probably see lovely young women in sparkling heels and evening dresses and young men sporting bow ties and cummerbunds.
I love prom. As a young girl, I couldn't wait to go to my first prom! As a freshman in high school, I remember being crushed to discover that it was reserved for juniors and seniors. Of course, I learned soon after that anyone can go as a guest. Yes, I made it a mission to go to prom every single year of my high school career. Perhaps it seems silly but can you blame me? I'm still a sucker for any occasion to dress up, even now.
As a photographer, I always look forward to prom season. It's the perfect opportunity to capture images of happy, beautiful young adults, dressed to the nine. What's not to love? This year was especially fun because my daughter, Emily is a senior and this is her final prom. I could barely contain my joy when I found out that she had rounded up a group of her best friends to have portraits made before this year's prom. As you'll see below, this is a seriously gorgeous group – but even more special (to me) is that most of these stunning creatures are kids whom I absolutely adore. I've watched these kids grow and mature so much over the last few years, I feel quite like a mother hen! Okay, that's enough of my rambling. I should let the images speak for themselves.
